THE HEARTBEAT OF BOURBON STREET
hard times in "the big easy"
discover Where Light as Compass, Prevails Amid Neon Signs, Mysteries, and Other Wanderers.
This new play delves into the underworld of a city celebrated for good times. Driven by social justice and the need to vindicate children’s rights, this bold crime drama's evidence-based dialog shines a light on the insidious growth of human trafficking in the United States. Detective Ray Beaux serves New Orleans law enforcement as the lead investigator for child exploitation and human trafficking.
His beat drifts from the notoriously dangerous Chef Menteur Highway to the famous debauchery of Bourbon Street. The story takes place in the midst of Agent Ray Beaux's covert criminal investigation into a trafficking ring with no vialble suspects just before the mega crowds and their monsterous appetites descend upon "The Big Easy" for "The Big Game". Ray meets a bucket drumming street performer named Benjamin who is simultaneously being recruited by criminal perpetrators and under-cover law enforcement in a plot that raises the stakes far beyond Benjamin's own life. Colorful, serious, and profound, The Heartbeat of Bourbon Street takes audiences on an insightful and affirming story about the vitality of people from various social groups coming together in the face of adversity. The symbolic cavalcade of characters (mother and son, socialite and derelict, criminal and law enforcement, tourist and local) ultimately leads towards the light of redemption through truth, wisdom and love.
